Alegria acquires new heavy equipments

The Local Government Unit of Alegria has acquired one (1) Unit PC 200 KOMATSU Back Hoe and Two (2) Units HYUNDAI Ten Wheeler Dump trucks. A ceremonial blessing led by Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. with Rev. Fr. Almaquio B. Allaan II, DCS, the Parish Priest of Alegria’s San Isidro Parish was successfully celebrated last December 19, 2012 for the acquisition of the new heavy equipments.

Most Alegrianons were proud that the municipality of Alegria has obtained these heavy equipments knowing that Alegria is a fifth class municipality of Surigao del Norte. However, some ask why the municipality has to buy such heavy equipments. Some also asked how the local government able to pay the amortization. Nevertheless, the municipal officials headed by Mayor Esma are very confident that the municipality can pay the amortization of the heavy equipment by entrusting these equipments to the Municipal Economic Enterprise and Development Office (MEEDO) to be used for business of which income derived from its operation like for the construction related activities and delivery of construction materials. The income from the operation together with five percent (5%) Calamity Fund will be used to pay its amortization. Moreover, these heavy equipments will not only pouring income for the municipality but this will be also used in river operations such as river siltation management (dissiltation), dredging and re-channeling of river ways to address the problem of perennial flooding and other calamity related operations. The purchases of said equipments approved by the municipal officials who really pursued this project aimed also to answer the recommendation of the municipal DRRM Team in mitigating the problem of flooding.

Diabetes Alert Program Launched In Alegria

One of the flagship program of Hon. Congressman Guillermo A. Romarate, Jr. of the 2^nd District of Surigao del Norte and Hon. Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. of Alegria, Surigao del Norte is to promote good health among the constituents. These two political leaders pull their efforts and resources to safeguard the health conditions of all Alegriahanons.

Inside the Alegria Municipal Development Center: Alegriahanons participate during the launching of diabetic alert program

Besides the regular distribution of Phil-health cards covering 2,400 families in the municipality and the periodic Panambay sa Barangay (Medical Missions to the Barangays), this time, Diabetes Alert Program had been launched on July 20, 2009 of which hundreds of Alegriahanons flocked at the Alegria Community Stage/Alegria Municipal Development Center to avail of the services under this program

Among the services extended were the following:

• Free medical check-up and blood examination, diabetes and blood pressure screening.
• Distribution of free medicines for diabetes and high blood ailments.

This health program will now be availed by the constituents as part of the regular services of our Municipal Health Office located at the Municipal Government Center of Alegria. Medical equipments to detect to this kind of ailments are readily available in the center.
