PRLEC launches skills training in Alegria

04 August 2021 – The Poverty Reduction Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) recently launches various skills training as part of the launching of the Barangay Development Program of the government.

A total of 135 trainees attended the launching of the PRLEC of the Various Skills Training Program of the Priority Barangay of the Municipality of Alegria last July 28, 2021, at Don Francisco “Kikoy” Bagol Sports Complex.

As the lead agency of PRLEC, TESDA Provincial Director Catalina Tacubao of TESDA Suriga del Norte spearheaded the activity in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Alegria, Surigao del Norte headed by Municipal Mayor Rene G. Esma.

The event was graced by TESDA Caraga Regional Director Tarhata Mapandi and 30 IB Commandant General George Banson along with Mr. Emilio Pantejo representing Governor Francisco T. Matugas , Alegria, Surigao del Norte Vice Mayor Dominador G. Esma Jr., all SB members of the LGU and the five Barangay Captains of the Priority Barangay, Hon. Felix Paclipan of Ferlda, Hon. Robert Rafael of Alipao, Hon. Romel Tabamo of Budlingin, Hon. Nelson De Pedro of Pongtud and Hon. Herbert Antiola of San Juan

Also attended were Datu Mario Labao of the IP Community of Budlingin and representatives of other member agencies of PRLEC, DSWD, PCA, DTI, Dep Ed, Dept of Agriculture.

RDRRMC awards Alegria as Fully Compliant LGU in DRRM

July 30, 2021 – The Caraga Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) recently bestowed an award to the Municipality of Alegria, Surigao del Norte as one of the “Fully Compliant LGU” in the delivery of disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) services in the locality.

During its 22nd Gawad Kalasag Seal virtual awarding ceremony via Zoom on July 30, 2021, the Caraga RDRRMC conferred a Gawad Kalasag Seal to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) of Alegria, Surigao del Norte as “Fully Compliant (Standard) in the 2021 Regional Gawad KALASAG Seal Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance.

“On behalf of the MDRRMC lead by our ever active and supportive Municipal Mayor Rene G. Esma, the Municipal DRRM Office of Alegria, Surigao del Norte is very thankful to Caraga RDRRMC for the said award. This is the first time the LGU Alegria received this kind of award even neophyte in the DRRM service,” said Local DRRM Officer Johny Natad.

Natad said that the recognition will motivate its MDRRMC to make more endeavors in partnership with local stakeholders to deliver the DRRM services effectively and efficiently, contributing to the wealth and progress desired by the current administration.

15 farmer trainees receive organic vegetable supplies

In line with the Provision of Extension Support to the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Trained on Farmers Field School (FFS) on Organic Vegetable Production at Barangay San Juan, Alegria, Surigao del Norte, the municipality of Alegria distributed some organic vegetable supplies to identified farmers trainees.

Municipal Administrator Rizalde Esma and Municipal Agriculturist Raul Micompal hand over on August 25, 2020, the agricultural materials to 15 farmer trainees of Barangay San Juan, Alegria, Surigao del Norte.

The agricultural support materials compose of 15 packs each of okra, squash, pole sitao, eggplant, tomato, cucumber, petchay, ampalaya, upland kangkong, bell pepper, bolo, shovel, field boots, sprinklers, knapsacks sprayer, rake, tie wire, seedling trays, plastic pail, molasses, and vermicompost/biocompost. Red Cross assists barangays formulate DRRM plan in Alegria

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Surigao del Norte chapter assists the five barangays of Alegria, Surigao del Norte in crafting the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) plan.

On August 13, 2020, the PNRC facilitated the conduct of the BDRRM plan workshop and first-round Quality Assurance System (QAS) to five (5) partner barangays in the municipality composed of Camp Eduard, Budlingin, Pongtud, San Juan, and Alipao to finalize the said plan. The Punong Barangay, Barangay Secretary, and Kagawad on BDRRM and Focal Person participated during the one-day workshop.

The activity aims to assist in the crafting of the BDDRM Plan of the barangays in evaluating its plans on the completeness of their documents through QAS. The said activity was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Marco Joshuie G. Espina, RN (CSR-DMS) and assisted by Allison Mae S. Ampater and Ernie Cabaluna with the support of the Local Chapter through the leadership of Mrs. Marilou E. Talingting, the PNRC SDN Chapter Administrator and Alegria, Surigao del Norte MDRRMC through the leadership of Mayor Rene G. Esma.

Meanwhile, LDRRMO Johny S. Natad expressed gratefulness to PNRC SDN Chapter for the technical assistance they provided to the five barangays since June 2019.

“The municipality of Alegria under the leadership of our Municipal Mayor Rene G. Esma is very happy and thankful to the Philippine National Red Cross Surigao del Norte Chapter for the technical provision in formulating this BDRRM plan which is one of the required plans of every barangay local government units. The five identified barangays are privileged for this technical assistance since out of 12 barangays in the municipality they were the only BLGUs received with this valuable assistance from PNCR,” Natad said.

Surigao del Norte PNRC Community Development Officer Allison Mae S. Ampater said that the technical assistance of the PNRC to five barangays is part of the organization’s thrust and program in partnership with the Partners for Resilience (PfR 2016-2020) Project supported by the Netherland Red Cross aimed at helping the barangays became resilient to disaster and natural calamities.
