Alegria set its Kabibo EcoSports Festival 2021

The Municipality of Alegria, Surigao del Norte in partnership with the Eagle’s Club, will spearhead various events dubbed as the “KABIBO ECOSPORTS FESTIVAL” on July 24 and 25, 2021 with the theme “Paukyab sa Turismo ug Ekonomiya sa Panahon nan Pandemya”.

After seeking the approval of the Municipal IATF, Municipal Mayor Rene G. Esma together with the Municipal Tourism Office and Eagle’s Club set the final schedule of the activities which includes mountain biking sports (MTB Cross Country Challenge); Slide Jam Competition; Frisbee Hat Competition; Downhill Skateboarding Competition; Badminton Tournament; vlog and photography competition, among others.

Municipal Tourism Officer Luniza Garrido revealed that such an eco-sports festival was supposed to be done last June during the founding anniversary of the municipality. However, due to some unfavorable situation amidst the pandemic, the management decided to postpone it. She also disclosed that the mandatory minimum health protocols will be strictly observed and implemented during the conduct of the eco-sports festival activities according to the existing local laws and IATF guidelines.

Alegria joins 2nd simultaneous earthquake drill 2021

As part of the support to DRRM in the locality to prepare from harm by earthquake, the Municipality of Alegria joins the second quarter simultaneous earthquake drill 2021 nationwide by hanging a tarpaulin enjoining everyone to participate the 2021 Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).


The 2021 2nd NSED is quarterly activity aims to prepare, prevent and mitigate the impact of earthquake in the workplace pursuant to DILG MC No. 2021-061 and other relevant DRRM policies.

The first NSED for this year was conducted on March 11, 2021. The said activity was also supported by the Municipality of Alegria.


LGU Alegria partners Micompal Store to serve emergency relief goods

The Municipality of Alegria, Surigao del Norte signs Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Micompal Store’s proprietor Emalyn Gloria Sulapas Micompal as local supplier who can provide relevant supplies of goods in case of predicted and unpredicted disaster or emergency.

The MOA signing happened during the Joint Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) and Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for Infectious Diseases meeting on April 22, 2021 held at Women’s Building, this municipality.

In behalf of the Municipal Mayor Rene G. Esma, Municipal Administrator Rizaldy A. Esma expressed appreciativeness to Micompal Store’s support to LGU Alegria as partner local supplier of emergency relief goods and stockpiling of relevant supplies.

Meanwhile, LDRRM Officer II Johny Natad explained that MOA signing of partnership with the local supplier is essential milestone in the DRRM adhering the provisions of Republic Act 10121 known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.

“RA 10121 identifies the need for stockpiling of equipment and supplies as one of the critical mechanism for disaster preparedness. It is therefore a need to have partnership with business entrepreneurs who legally engage with various services in the municipality especially in providing the relief goods ready for disaster”, explained LDRRMO Natad

7 barangays of Alegria undergoes early warning system orientation

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Alegria, Surigao del Norte in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Surigao del Norte conducted the Early Warning System Orientation held at the Municipal Function Hall, Alegria, Surigao del Norte July 09, 2020, afternoon. Mr. Edgar Catulay of Surigao del Norte PDRRMO discussed the Early Warning System (EWS) to the 7 Punong Barangays and Kagawad on DRRM of Julio Ouano, Ombong, Anahaw, San Pedro, Alipao, San Juan and Pongtud.

Mr. Catulay briefly discussed the standardized early warning system according to the DOST-PAGASA / NDRRMC guidelines based on color coding. The PDRRMO also request all identified barangays to assign two monitoring personnel who perform the monitoring task for water level gauge and rain gauge. The water level gauge will be constructed soon to each barangay by a contractor of the PDRRMO. The identified barangays are also task to found the appropriate location for the installation of water level gauge.

After the orientation, Mr. Catulay turn over three manual early warning bells and three manual rain gauges.
