Alegria posts 161% on 2013 RPT collection

30 April 2014 – Official of local government unit of Alegria, Surigao del Norte recently bared that the municipality has acquired 161.27% on its real property tax (RPT) collection for 2013.

Editha MartinezMunicipal Assistant Treasurer Editha D. Martinez revealed that within calendar year 2013, the municipality has collected a total amount of Php 1,481,479.99 of RPT, which is 161.27% of the Php 918,643.04 target. With this, the municipality was recently recognized by the provincial government of Surigao del Norte as rank number five among the 20 municipalities of the province for the dedicated services to the treasury operations specially in the collection of RPT taxes during it recognition held on January 30, 2014.

In 2012, the province recognized the municipality as rank number 8 for its 121.28% RPT collection.

Meanwhile, the Caraga Regional Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) and the Regional Association of Treasurers and Assessors Region XIII, Inc. (REGATA) recognized the municipality of Alegria as rank number 17 throughout the region for its 121.28% collection of RPT in 2012.

DSC_000317“The municipal treasurer’s office has received awards and recognitions from the provincial government and the regional offices which only show that our office is really working hard to achieve these. However, these accomplishments are not enough to meet the financial needs of our local government. Nevertheless, with the plaques of recognitions we received, we are inspired to continue perform our jobs more efficiently and effectively,” Martinez said in an interview.

Revenue Tax Collector Rosemary Ranay explained that the treasury office personnel have been employing different workable strategies to guarantee achievement of the tax collections particularly on RPT.

“Based on our office plans and program, we implemented doable strategies in RPT collection such as conducting massive collection, sending notice of payment to delinquent tax payers, and conducting regular IEC on RPT to barangays in the municipality,” explained Ranay.
