COMMUNITY e CENTER SOON TO OPEN IN ALEGRIA

            The Commission on Information and Communications Technology-National Computer Center (CICT-NCC), Manila and the Local Government Unit of Alegria, Surigao del Norte has forged a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of a Community e Center.  

            Through SB Resolution No. 47, dated 15th of September, 2009 of the Sangguniang Bayan of Alegria, the Local Government Unit manifested the intention to establish and sustain the Community E Center operations. Counterpart of the LGU is to provide with at least 30 square meters office space, 1 unit computer with accessories, internet connection availability, assignment of 2 full time CeC workers and other office equipments.

            On the part of CICT-NCC, they will provide the following:

  • Four (4) computer units
  • A four-in-one equipment package consisting of a scanner, printer, facsimile machine and copier
  • Two web cameras and local area networking peripherals
  • Appropriate training

Last February 8, 2010, the Commission on Information and Communications- National Computer Center, Manila through Ms. Melody M. Cocon, Regional Information Technology Coordinator of Caraga Region conducted a one (1) day orientation to familiarize and be informed of the essential information regarding the purpose, objectives and functions of the Community E Center.

Among the general services to be provided by Alegria Community E Center are the following:

  • Voice (phone) and Data (email, internet)
  • Business (fax, scanning, printing, photocopying)
  • Computer training (basic, distance learning)
  • LGU services (barangay clearances, complaints, residence certificates, real estate taxes, business permits and licenses)
  • NGA services (birth certificates, passport, licenses)
  • Special OFW workers services (VoIP, email with webcam, job search and placements)
  • Community-based services (agricultural prices, local content development, local tourism)

According to Ms. Cocon, the counterpart equipments coming from Manila will be delivered within the month of March, 2010 considering the readiness of LGU Alegria to operate the said facility.
