By virtue of SB Resolution No. 01, series of 2010 sponsored by Hon. SB Suzeth Zamora Dagcuta, Chairperson of Committee on Education and Tourism as approved unanimously by the Members of the Sangguniang Bayan of Alegria on January 4, 2010 requested the Hon. Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. to pay tribute to the longest living educator in the municipality in the person of Mrs. Martha Ortega Adlawan during her 91st birthday on January 19, 2010.
Anchored to the approved SB resolution, Mayor Esma acted and instructed immediately his staff to do the preparations for the upcoming birthday celebration of Mrs. Adlawan to be attended by municipal officials and employees, DepEd educators/teachers in high school and elementary level, immediate family members, relatives and close friends of the celebrant. Venue, food and drinks were prepared and the local government unit released the amount of Php12,000.00 as counterpart for the said occasion.

On the day of the 91st birthday celebration of Mrs. Martha Ortega Adlawan, it was held at the fully air-conditioned Alegria Municipal Development Training attended by invited guests headed by Hon. Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr., Vice-Mayor Ernesto C. Odjinar, Sr., Dr. Norma S. Zamora, District Supervisor In-Charge Rosario Pongcol Benitez and Dr. Fidela M. Rosas, Schools Division Superintendent of the Province of Surigao del Norte.
The program started at 6:30 pm where different presentations were seen and messages heard from invited guests in honor to the main celebrant. The highlight of the program was the awarding of plaque of recognition in support to the approved SB Resolution citing the meritorious accomplishments during her time as an educator both in Alegria Central Elementary School and in Alegria Barrio High School way back 1970’s.
During her response, Mrs. Adlawan with tears of joy, expressed her deep and sincere gratitude to the persons who were directly involved in the success of the occasion and to the unending support from her sons and daughters, son and daughter-in-laws and grandchildren in time of needs.
Engr. Hermito O. Adlawan, the eldest son of Mrs. Adlawan was very grateful to the municipal officials of LGU Alegria of the honor extended to her mother and look forward for the best in the coming years.
