OTOP took centers stage during the 41st Adlaw nan Alegria celebration dubbed KABIBO Festival last June 11, 2009 at the Municipal Grounds, Alegria, Surigao del Norte.
Alegria is aptly referred as the rice bowl of Surigao del Norte, thus it is no wonder that under the leadership of Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. the municipality adopted RICE as their OTOP. (continue)

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) through the Municipal Agrarian Reform Office (MARO) and the Local Government of Alegria identified another 5 barangays to be included under the ARC (Agrarian Reform Communities) program of DAR to service existing agrarian reform beneficiaries and stakeholders to avail of projects like farm equipments (pre and post harvest equipments), infrastructure facilities and credit financing. Senator Mar Roxas Brief Visit to LGU Alegria
Senator Mar Roxas tagged as Mr. Palengke made a brief visit to the Municipality of Alegria. He met the municipal and barangay officials led by Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr., Vice-Mayor Ernesto Odjinar, Sr. and Provincial Board Member, Atty. Carlos Egay, Jr. He was enthusiastically welcomed by the people during his first visit to the municipality after he was elected as Senator in the 2004 elections. LUMONDO WATERFALLS VISITED BY 2 GIANT TELEVISION NETWORKS
Lumondo Falls and Eco-park were recently visited by two (2) giant television networks operating in most cities in the Philippines and abroad, the ABS-CBN and GMA-7. LGU ALEGRIA ACQUIRED TRANSPORT VEHICLES
BIRTHING AND TB DOTS CLINICS IN ALEGRIA FORMALLY OPEN
Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. responded to the call of the Department of Health to establish a Birthing Clinic to cater pregnant women in order to control mortality of women giving birth likewise to still birth or death of newly born babies due to lack of medical services during and after the delivery period. It has been experienced that records of mortality cases appeared due to lack of medical preparations before giving birth. It is now discouraged to pregnant women to deliver in homes but to avail of the birthing clinic services. (continue)
4 Barangays in Alegria Recipient of USAID-Gem Projects
For calendar year 2009, four (4) barangays in the Municipality of Alegria are soon to implement projects funded by the United States Aid for International Development (USAID) under the Growth Equity for Mindanao fund allocation. Qualified barangays to receive of this kind of foreign assistance were those enrolled and identified as KALAHI barangays. (continue)
FLASHFLOODS AND LANDSLIDES DUE TO HEAVY RAINFALL BROUGHT DAMAGE TO HOU
SES, CROPS AND INFRASTRUCTURES IN ALEGRIA
Continuous rains coupled with strong easterly winds that started January 12, 2009 and ended up January 16, 2009 (weeklong heavy rainfall) in most parts of Mindanao brought damage to houses, agricultural crops and infrastructures. In Alegria alone, estimated damages reached to 18.5 million pesos in properties and infrastructures that prompted Mayor Dominador G.
