12 Barangays in Alegria Recepients of Pantawid Pampamilya Pilipino of DSWD

The National Sector Support for Social Welfare and Development Reform Project (NSS-SWDRP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development with technical assistance from World Bank included recently the Local Government Unit of Alegria as the 14^th municipality of the Province of Surigao del Norte as recipient under the Pampatawid Pampamilyang Pilipino Program commonly called as 4Ps Program. There are 500 families who are beneficiaries of this program coming from the 12 barangays of the town.

Concrete Line Canal Constructed in Barangay Ouano

Under the leadership of ABC President, Hon. Ferdinand L. Angob, Barangay Captain of Julio Ouano with the full support of his Barangay Officials and constituents constructed recently the 528 linear meters of concrete line canal situated at Sitio Happiness. (continue)

GSP Provincial Encampment held at Alegria

For the first time, the Girls Scout of the Philippines Surigao del Norte Chapter held its provincial encampment in the Municipality of Alegria as the host district in coordination of the local government unit on September 30 to October 3, 2009 at the Alegria Central Elementary School (ACES) grounds participated in by 12 DepEd districts in the mainland municipalities of the province including Surigao City.

LGU Alegria Joins Clean-Up Surigao and ACES Program

In support to the Clean-Up Surigao Campaign and Advocacy for Clean Environment & its Sustainability (ACES) Program of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, the local government unit of Alegria readily accepted/implemented this environmental campaign and program and the same was advocated to the 12 barangays of the municipality under similar program tagged as Environmental Sustainability and Management of Alegria (ESMA) Program. 2 Barangays in Alegria Adjudged as Outstanding Barangays in Surigao del Norte

Mayor Esma and ABC President Angob recieved plaque of recognition and cash as the 3rd Outstanding Peace & Barangay Council in Surigao del Norte Two barangay Local Government Units in the Municipality of Alegria were proclaimed as one of the Most Outstanding Peace and Order Council and Most Outstanding Lupong Tagapamayapa 2009 in the Province of Surigao del Norte during its awarding ceremony last September 1, 2009. Alegre Diner & Grill Grand Opening

Alegriahanons witnessed another milestone of development effort as it formally opened the ALEGRE Diner and Grill, another economic enterprise facility managed and operated by the Municipal Economic and Enterprise Office (MEEDO) of the Local Government Unit of Alegria. (continue)

One Town One Product (OTOP) Highlights
[1st Semester 2009]

OTOP took centers stage during the 41^st Adlaw nan Alegria celebration dubbed KABIBO Festival last June 11, 2009 at the Municipal Grounds, Alegria, Surigao del Norte.

Alegria is aptly referred as the rice bowl of Surigao del Norte, thus it is no wonder that under the leadership of Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. the municipality adopted RICE as their OTOP. (continue)

Mayor Esma delivers 2^nd SOMA

In celebrating the 41^st Araw nan Alegria (foundation day of the Municipality of Alegria) on June 15, 2009, the Municipal Mayor Dominador G. Esma, Jr. conveys his 2^nd State Of the Municipality Address (SOMA) to Alegriahanons (people of Alegria).

EXPANDED AND SPECIAL AGRARIAN REFORM COMMUNITIES IN 5 BARANGAYS OF ALEGRIA SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED;;;;;

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) through the Municipal Agrarian Reform Office (MARO) and the Local Government of Alegria identified another 5 barangays to be included under the ARC (Agrarian Reform Communities) program of DAR to service existing agrarian reform beneficiaries and stakeholders to avail of projects like farm equipments (pre and post harvest equipments), infrastructure facilities and credit financing. Blessing of Municipal Development Center, Crisis Intervention/Livelihood Center and other Facilities undertaken

In response to the plan of LGU Alegria to enter into economic enterprise business, it constructed a building where the Municipal Development Center, Crisis Intervention and Livelihood center are found with added facilities on it such as the E-library with 3 units of computers installed with internet connection and audio-visual facilities.
